Navigating the NexWave interface

Once you are signed in, the rest of NexWave revolves around three things: the navbar at the top, the side menu on the left, and the awesome bar for jumping to any record by name. Learn these and you can find anything in seconds.

The navbar

The bar across the top of every page contains:

  • NexWave logo / Home: returns you to the default workspace.

  • Awesome bar: the search box in the centre. Type any record name, doctype, report, or page; results appear as you type. Ctrl+G (Cmd+G on macOS) jumps your cursor straight there.

  • Notifications bell: shows mentions, assigned-to-me items, and system alerts. The number badge counts unread items.

  • Help (?): contextual help for the current page; the link points to the relevant section of this documentation site.

  • Avatar / profile menu: opens My Settings, Reload, Toggle Theme (light/dark), and Log out.

The side menu

The collapsible menu on the left lists the workspaces you have access to. Each workspace is a curated landing page for one functional area: Accounts, Buying, Selling, Stock, HR, and so on.

Click a workspace name to open it. From the workspace landing page you typically see:

  • Shortcuts: tiles linking directly to the most-used reports and lists.

  • Cards: grouped links to all the related doctypes (e.g. the Accounts Receivable card lists Sales Invoice, Customer, Payment Entry).

  • Charts and number cards: live KPIs scoped to the workspace.

Workspaces are configurable: your administrator can pin or unpin tiles to suit how your team works.

The Accounting workspace, for example, opens to a P&L summary chart, headline number cards, and shortcut tiles linking to the most-used masters and reports.

The awesome bar

This is the single most important shortcut in NexWave. Press Ctrl+G (Cmd+G on macOS) from anywhere to focus it, then start typing.

List view, form view, report view

Almost every screen in NexWave is one of three kinds:

  • List view: a table of all records of one doctype (e.g. all Sales Invoices). You filter, sort, and bulk-select here. URL pattern: /app/sales-invoice.

  • Form view: a single record with all its fields and child tables. You read or edit here. URL pattern: /app/sales-invoice/SAL-INV-2026-00001.

  • Report view: a query-based grid (often with filters and a chart) summarising data from one or more doctypes. URL pattern: /app/query-report/<Report Name>.

The link colour and breadcrumbs at the top of each page make it clear which view you are in.

Breadcrumbs and recent items

  • Breadcrumbs at the top of any form show the doctype and parent module, with one click back to the list.

  • Recently viewed is available from the awesome bar (type recent) and from the side menu's Recently Updated card.

Tabs and sections within a form

Forms are split into tabs (across the top of the form) and sections (collapsible groups within each tab). For long forms, click the Collapse all / Expand all link to jump between sections quickly.
