# Production Analytics

**Production Analytics** is the trend-style report production managers reach for to answer "how many work orders did we open and complete, and how much did we produce, by period?". It is grouped by item or BOM, with one column per period, so monthly throughput is easy to spot.

## Where to find it

**Manufacturing > Reports > Production Analytics.**

## Filters

| Filter | What it does |
|--------|--------------|
| **Company** | Mandatory. |
| **From Date / To Date** | The window of dates to analyse. Defaults to the current fiscal year. |
| **Based On** | *Work Order* or *Job Card*. *Work Order* shows top-level throughput (one row per work order). *Job Card* breaks the same data down to the operation level. |
| **Period** | *Monthly*, *Quarterly*, *Yearly*. Adds one period column per bucket. |
| **Item / Item Group** | Scope to a specific product or product family. |
| **BOM** | Show only work orders against a specific Bill of Materials. |
| **Warehouse** | Show only work orders that produce to a specific warehouse. |
| **Status** | Filter by work-order state: *Draft*, *Submitted*, *In Process*, *Completed*, *Stopped*, *Cancelled*. |
| **Charts** | Built-in chart toggles between *Quantity to Manufacture* and *Completed Quantity* over time. |

## What the report shows

The output is a tree-grouped table:

| Column | What it shows |
|--------|---------------|
| **Item / BOM** *(tree column)* | The grouping. Click the chevron to expand groups. |
| **Period columns** | One column per *Monthly* / *Quarterly* / *Yearly* bucket showing the metric value (count of work orders or completed quantity). |
| **Total** | Total across all visible periods. |

The chart at the top of the report shows the same data plotted over time.

## Reading the numbers

* A rising **Completed Quantity** trend with flat **Quantity to Manufacture** = backlog being worked down. Operations is catching up.
* Flat **Completed Quantity** with rising **Quantity to Manufacture** = WIP building up. Investigate bottlenecks (capacity, materials, operators).
* Item rows with zero completed quantity for several consecutive periods are candidates for BOM cleanup or item retirement.
* Large gaps between *Quantity to Manufacture* and *Completed Quantity* in the same period usually mean work orders are crossing month boundaries; widen the period (Quarterly) for a fairer picture.

## Common pitfalls

* **Stopped work orders still inflate the opened count.** Use the **Status** filter to exclude *Stopped* and *Cancelled* if you only want truly active throughput.
* **Quantities are in stock UoM, not BOM produced UoM.** If you produce in *Each* but stock in *Box*, the numbers can look surprising. Check the item's stock UoM before drawing conclusions.
* **Sub-assembly work orders inflate counts.** A finished good with 3 sub-assemblies produces 4 work orders, all of which appear here. Filter by **Item** to focus on finished goods only.
* **Date filter applies to the work order's posting date.** Long-running work orders may straddle the chosen window; the report attributes them to the period they were created in, not when they completed.
