Setting your preferences
NexWave keeps a small set of preferences per user: language, time zone, theme, notification settings, and where you land after login. Configuring them up front makes the system feel like your system.
All of the settings below live on your User record. Open it via the avatar in the top-right > My Settings.
User form on the Settings tab, showing Desk Settings, Navigation, List, Form, Email and Workspace preference sections
Language
NexWave is available in many languages. To change yours:
Open My Settings.
Find the Language field (under the Settings tab).
Pick from the dropdown.
Save the User record.
Refresh the browser for the change to take effect across the UI.
Note that this changes the interface language only. Document content (item names, customer names, item descriptions, etc.) stays in whatever language was used when the data was entered.
Time zone
NexWave stores all timestamps in UTC and displays them in your time zone. To change yours:
Open My Settings.
Set Time Zone (under the Settings tab) to your time zone, e.g. Pacific/Auckland or Australia/Sydney.
Save.
After this, every Created / Modified date, every report's Posting Time, and every notification timestamp is shown in your local time. Other users see the same data in their time zone.
If you travel a lot, leave the time zone on your home zone unless you plan to stay in the new zone for an extended period; constantly toggling can get confusing.
Theme
NexWave supports light and dark themes:
From the avatar menu in the top-right, click Toggle Theme to switch instantly.
Or open My Settings, set Desk Theme to Light, Dark, or Automatic (follows your OS setting), and save.
Themes apply only to the NexWave UI; your prints and PDFs are always rendered light.
Notifications
NexWave can notify you in two places:
In-app: the bell icon in the top-right.
Email: sent to your account email.
Configure preferences from My Settings:
Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
Send Me a Copy of Outgoing Emails | When you email a customer or supplier from a record, BCC yourself. |
Allow Desktop Notifications | Browser pop-ups (you must approve in the browser the first time). |
Mute Sounds | Silences the chime on new notifications. |
For specific notification rules (e.g. "email me whenever a Sales Invoice is overdue"), your administrator configures Notification records under Settings > Notification; per-user opt-out is via the Notification Settings doctype.
Default landing page
By default NexWave drops you on the Home workspace after login. To land somewhere else:
Open My Settings.
Set Default Workspace to your preferred workspace (Accounts, Selling, Buying, etc.).
Save and log out / log back in.
If you spend most of your day in one module, this saves a click every login.
Profile picture and signature
Profile picture: drag an image onto the avatar at the top of the User form. It appears in comments, mentions, and the navbar.
Email signature: set under the Settings tab. This is appended to outgoing emails sent from inside NexWave (not your normal email client).
Two-factor authentication (if enabled)
If your administrator has enabled 2FA for your role, you will be prompted to set it up the first time you log in:
Choose OTP App (recommended; works with Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy).
Scan the QR code in your app.
Enter the 6-digit code to confirm.
Save your recovery codes somewhere safe; you will need one if you lose your authenticator app.
Once 2FA is on, every login requires the 6-digit code in addition to your password.
Common pitfalls
Language change does not stick: you forgot to refresh the browser. Hard-refresh (Ctrl+F5 / Cmd+Shift+R).
Time zone shows UTC times anyway: a stale browser cache. Refresh and check that Time Zone is saved on the User record.
Notifications going to spam: ask your administrator to configure SPF / DKIM for the outbound mail domain.
Lost 2FA codes and recovery codes: contact your administrator. They can disable 2FA on your account so you can log in and re-enrol.
